So I guess Kamina's not so much "insensitive" as he is "hopelessly unable to read normal-person social cues" and/or "more easily distracted than a pomeranian" (and also just "wicked hammered")

Actually the dog analogy is probably the most apt, he's basically a really terrible K-9 unit that can talk and is also stuck in a badass man's body

Not that any of these stirring psychological revelations will be of any solace to poor Simon, he is just so thoroughly bamboozled right now

Y'know, now that I think about it, Kamina being easily distracted explains a LOT of his behavior in the comic. Like when he was talking to the whores and Simon got kidnapped.
