This one isn't changed all that much in terms of layout, but there was definitely work to be done as far as cleaning up/smoothing out the ink work and keeping everything consistent with the look of the later pages. Also, I felt that L'arc (the girl with all the dialogue here, for anyone who doesn't know) didn't look nearly grumpy enough in the original. FIXED THAT RIGHT UP
One thing I noticed going back over these pages is that a heavier line makes little details pop out a bit more. Like I feel that Simon's hairy legs/other zones look grosser with thick lines bordering them, hahaha
Plus the heavy, super-curvy lines on the Jiiha dude's face make it look like his head is melting from PURE HORROR
The wonderful thing about Manga Studio is that you can do all these teensy, thin lines and they reproduce in print just as well as the bold stuff. The original page here looked ESPECIALLY awful when I first got a proof copy; I can't wait to see how nice the new one will be on the printed page
I... actually like the expressions on the older panels better. The lines are too thick and goofy in the newer pages. Whereas the pages early on in Double K looked more like goofy anime, the newer ones look more... captainosaka goofy. What originally attracted me to it was that it looked a lot more like anime, but once that novel appeal wore off, what was left was the actual story of Double K. And I kind of didn't expect there to really be a story, but the jokes were always good and there always seemed to be a goal. Now it's just fun to read, because of all the ridiculous shit that happens.
I kind of like the last two panels of the older version better as they are more expressive. The rest of the remastered is definitely better though (no offense).
It's okay, though. We still love you.
